GENERAL NOTES FOR THE CLASS
~This class will move quickly. Please look at PowerSchool to know what is due during the week. All work due that week is posted on PowerSchool starting Monday. Students can see what is upcoming and what they've missed.
~Work will be posted periodically here to help support the student learning. If you want to see what they are learning, check out the College and Career Awareness (CCA) Website. Or click on the "Assignments" tab above.
~Grading is usually completed within 24 hours and the grade is placed on their PowerSchool account. Yellow boxes by the assignment means that it is missing and is usually accompanied by a "0" in the grade. Red boxes by the assignment means it was turned in, but was late (meaning after the due date). They have 1 week for up to full points, but it will still be marked as late, regardless of the reason of absence.

Homework/Missing Work~Generally there is little to no homework for this class. If students do not finish work during class, they may take it home to finish.
~If students miss assignments, check the "Assignments" tab above. Many of the assignments plus supplemental material are located there. If the assignment that is needed is not located there, the student should come and ask for the assignment from me. ~There are multiple ways that students can make up work: (1) when they have extra time in class, they can ask for the assignment; (2) stay after school the days that the lab in room 23 is available--usually Tuesdays and Thursdays until 5pm; (3) come before school the days that the lab in room 23 is available--most days starting around 7:45am. |
Reality TownReality town is a large class assignment where students will be able to choose a future job they could see themselves doing based on their GPA on the day that we choose jobs. Reality Town will happen in March, 2016 from 8:30-10:30am in the Centennial Cafeteria. The activity consists of the students going through a bill paying day and having to provide for the needs of their assigned family. It is a glimpse into a possible future for the student.
If you would like to volunteer to help this morning, please send me an email or sign up with the Centennial PTA. It takes many volunteers to make this activity run smoothly. |
KeyboardingStudents need to be practicing typing at home. By the end of the semester, they should be at 30 WPM (words per minute) with 6 or less errors. There are many different programs available both free on the web and paid programs. This can be accomplished by practicing at least 20 minutes a day correctly.
While programs do help with the practice of keying correctly, the best thing is to NOT LOOK AT YOUR HANDS. This can be accomplished by putting a dish towel over your hands as you type or creating a keyboard cover from cardboard that slides over your hands and keyboard. Speed will come once you know where letters are on the keyboard. Commit those keys to muscle memory and the speed will come. ACCURACY is more important at this point in time. |
